I am a new owner of a T420. I had a T61 and it was super good. The first thing I am so not used to with my new T420 is the touchpad.. it is complete flat and level with the palm-rest and my finger keeps moving out of the trackable area without any feedback. My t61's touchpad is bounded and my finger can easily know it is reaching the edge but I don't get this feeling anymore until I notice the mouse doesn't follow my finger movement anymore. It is annoying and do you have the same problem? Do you have any idea how to 'fix' this? Thanks!

You get used to it eventually. At least it has the bumpy surface so you can tell when you've reached the edge. I've seen a few laptops lately that are almost totally smooth and flush with the case. I'd hate that.

It is not 100% level with the palm rest, but it is pretty level. You'll get used to it. I got used to it after like an hour of usage at most, and then had to get used to it again after not using it for a month. I've seen many laptops where it is literally the same material as the palm rest (coughHPcough), which makes it literally impossible to tell if you are off the touchpad or not by feeling alone.

Yeah you'll definitely get used to it. That was quite a big difference that I noticed between the touchpad between my T400 and new T420. Or even better... you could just use the trackpoint :p
