T420 and T430

My friend just lent me his T420 for a couple of days as he knew I wanted to get a T430 for myself. I'm slowly liking it coming from a macbook pro with the glossy screen. The colors arent as lively, but I think it's decent. This has the non AU display (LP140WD2-TLB1).The only thing that I wish was it was a bit more brighter. Maybe 1 or 2 more steps after 15.

Anyway, what I was wondering was, does the T430 also use the same screen. I'm really tempted by the T430 but will probably just go for it if it goes brighter than this panel. Viewing angles are ok, everything looks good except for the brightness. Lastly, how is the AU panel on the T430 compared to the non-AU panels on the T420?

The T430 screens are no better: they are sourced from the same display manufacturers, and they are just as "decent" and "not as bright as you wish" as you see on your friend's T420.

Buy it if you like, but without sight-unseen hope that your new T430 screen will be better. (If you are in any way sensitive to display quality, be very realistic when you approach any ThinkPad.)

 

Thanks for the quick reply Kaso! I'm still on the fence on this as I find it lacking in brightness. The good thing is, I can decide based on this t420 since they are sourced from the same manufacturers.
