Hi all,
I'm seriously on the edge of throwing this laptop out of the window.
Got this new T420 from work, and it's driving me NUTS. whenever I connect the LAN/Ethernet cable, the WiFi is automatically disabled - can't see, discover or connect to any SSID. The only solution is disconnecting the LAN cable.
I HAVE to have both connected and I'll do the routing myself.
It's a work laptop and I opened a ticket already but our IT support seems to have no idea on what's going on - they keep asking me to bridge the connections etc which is load of *&^@.
Could you please let me know if I'm missing something here? Literally checked all the WiFi power options (Windows 7, Lenovo, Intel). Re-installed all drivers and Lenovo software, checked BIOS settings. Not a freakin thing would resolve this issue. I can't re-install W7 myself, has to go back to IT.
What else can I do? I did manage to have both adaptors working once (have no clue how, maybe by reinstalling/removing some wireless software) but after a reboot the problem occurred again and now out of luck. So it definitely could work somehow.
I need your help! Thanks in advance!
Cheers.
Sorry for the language, but I'm really pissed off right now - wasted hours of troubleshooting and endless rebooting![]()

Lenovo Access Connections has a concept of 'profiles' that can be triggered on certain events, such as connecting to LAN, and it could be centrally configured by IT via Active Directory (and thus settings survive reinstall). Could be that, or some other security software / central policy-driven personal firewall etc.

Thanks for the reply.
There was no profiles configured and I tried every single combination and still it won't work. Made sure that "disconnect adaptor upon profile switching etc" option was not checked.
I'm desperate and could really use some help from NR fellows -
I'm messing with a HP 6910p right now and there is a setting in the BIOS to automatically switch between LAN and WiFi when the LAN cable is connected/disconnected. This is under Built-In Devices in the System Configuration menu. I know you mentioned checking the BIOS settings, but maybe take another look around to see if your T420 has a similar setting?

Uninstall access connection and call it a day.
