T420, discrete graphics, 8GB, intel SSD
Windows 7 Pro installed using Lenovo recovery disks
I removed Lenovo Rapidboot (slows it down with my SSD)

Normally boot takes 30 secs, and I have Firefox running after 35 secs.

But sometimes, one time out of every 5-10, it just sits there after the very first windows logo, right when it shows the "Think" wallpaper, and NOTHING ELSE, with no real activity in HDD light (blinks every once in a while, not fully lit like when it is booting properly).

I have theories, but no solutions (duh!)
    - it could be that a hardware component is not initializing. this could be due to faulty hardware
    - it could be that the os is not initializing (I find this unlikely, because the W7Pro I installed from another windows disk, onto ANOTHER SSD, also exhibited the same problem)
    - it could be that my computer just does not like me and does not want to come out an play :)

    any similar issues?

    Similar case here...
On the Windows logo page, T420 just sits there with the HDD light NOT blinking. And then, after some few seconds, the HDD light suddenly starts to flicker, resuming the boot-up.
It happened fairly often a several days ago, but for the last few days, it stopped doing that.
Weird that so many people are experiencing slow boot times with the T420...

BTW I fresh-installed W7 while replacing the hard drive.

most times, I hit ctrl-alt-del and reboot. it's faster than waiting for it to come to life.

well, so long as it's not a hardware component acting up, I'm okay with it. but I still don't know for sure.

I keeping my fingers crossed for it to be a driver issue, which then hopefully will be fixed soon.
