    Hi there,

Title pretty much says it all-- my T420 (i5, 4GB, integrated graphics) fan is basically always on. The machine doesn't feel hot, and the power manager controls are set to the default. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I tried the new version of tpfan control. My T520 does not agree with it. Temperature is not constant and will drop down to 0 degrees. It got stuck on 52 celcius at one point. Fortunately, I had another app that monitors processor usage & temperature. It showed the CPU @ 70 celcius. Promptly turned off tpfancontrol v.72 and uninstalled. Installed v.62 and it's been very stable.

Has anyone gained battery time, since the fan is inop the majority the time?

    Thanks,

It gets more obvious that Lenovo should ship their business notebooks with TPFanControl installed, otherwise it looks pretty ridiculous to pay 1K-1.5K for a laptop and have to deal with this...

The average consumer is likely to do damage to the machine if they were to include TPFanControl with all Thinkpads.
