One thing I am dissapointed in is the quality of the onboard speakers.. I know its not fair to compare them with the macbook pros but I did and they are not in the same class. The sound is very "tinny" and doesn't carry a lot of base. Is there a preset or way to get the speakers performing better? The only other thing I found clearly better in the macbook pro was the screen, although the T420 is a lot cheaper so I can't expect too much.

The speakers on the T420 is not bad for a business notebook, OK they're not the best but I found them to be a step up from my ThinkPad T61 and a lot better than my company issued ASUS with Altec Lansing speakers ironically. You could try altering some equalizer settings on the media player of your choice though the tinny bass is attributed to the lack of physical subwoofer on the system. If you use the system mostly at home and really appreciate some good sound then I would invest in a set of decent headphones or speakers personally.
