Nothing really. The T420i just has lower end processors.

As Cyberzs40 said, there is an option for a Core i5 processor but you have a choice of only one - Intel Core i5-2410. The T420i also don't allow you to choose a discrete graphics options so you're stuck with Intel's GPU. Mechanically they're just the same, if you don't require the Optimus option then you can save quite a bit by opting for the T420i rather than the standard T420 which I did.

Correct, the T420i doesn't have a USB 3.0 port or HDMI. It does have DisplayPort which with the correct lead/adaptor, will allow you to connect to a HDMI source such as monitors or TV's.

I want to hook it to the Tv to watch movies. What kind of adapter would I need? Would the adapter have the sound coming from the TV or the computer? I have a older Big Screen. Thanks so much for the help!!!

You can get a range of adaptors or cables that connect to DisplayPort. What sockets do you have on the big screen? Search ebay for DisplayPort and whatever socket you have.
