    Hi all,
I recent bought a Lenovo T420s from an eBay seller

It was meant to include the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wireless card but everything in Windows is telling me that there is no wireless card installed (nothing in network conections or device manager, intel software saying nothing installed, button on the side is switched on and wireless is enabled in the BIOS)

so my question is where would this wireless card be installed? Is it positioned quite deep into the laptop or would it be easily findable? I've tried to search this but no luck :(

    Thanks for any help :)

The wireless adapter is easily accessible via the RAM compartment under the laptop.
just like RAM, it's considered by Lenovo a user replaceable part.
try playing around with it, if that doesn't work, contact Lenovo.
Your laptop should still be under warranty, and they will just send you a replacement unit free of charge.

Here's a link to a photo of the RAM compartment. The WiFi card is in the bottom left corner.

You can also use the Lenovo parts lookup to check what was shipped in your T420s.

    ok Thanks guys

The wireless card is there, I've removed it and replaced it to make sure it had not been installed incorrectly and there is still no sign from the laptop that it knows anything about the wireless card.

I'm assuming it might be dead then.. I can't find anyone else who has had a a similar problem though...

Would it still be Lenovo's business?

Call them up, explain the situation and they'll send you a new one.
    That part is under warranty.
I'd use the parts lookup feature John mentioned to make sure that your laptop originally did come with that adapter.
The previous owners may have upgraded the adapter themselves.
If that's the case, then that adapter is not going to be under warranty (they may ask you to send the defective adapter back to them).
But worst case scenario you could just get another adapter on eBay, they're not that expensive.
