Something strange is going on with my DVD-RW drive. If I just open the drawer, put a CD/DVD in it, and close the drawer.... nothing happens... I can hear a "clicking" sound. Just by accident, I've determined that if I turn the Thinkpad so that the DVD bay is UP, put a CD/DVD in the open drawer, and then close the drawer (with the Thinkpad still UP on its side), then I'll hear the DVD "catch" and start to speed up and work OK. Admittedy, it seems I have a reasonable "work around" for the problem... but, it's not very professional looking to have to do that in the middle of a meeting or presentation... I've tried cleaning/blowing-off the mechanism... to no avail.
Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this..... and, does anyone have any suggestions ? THANKS !!

I've had it more than two years... don't think it's still in warranty... anyway... mine doesn't seem to be the type type that unlatches and slides out....

I would think a P model would come with a three year warranty. You can look up the warranty status here. The only ThinkPad models with fixed drives are the budget R series models, the ones with the e affixed to the end like the R51e or the R60e.
