    hi all

i am new in this forum and i think that is a great forum.
    (sorry about my english)

i want to buy this week the T43 and i dont know what to buy.
from time to time i want also to play with 3D game and i know that IBM is not laptop for games (yesterday i sold sony vaio S460 becuse i did not like his keyboard and he was too fragile)
so IBM is my only one that have a great keyboard, gerat scurety, and great look (old but my type).
so..... i have some model that i can take and i know that the best for games is T43 with 128MB Ati card but the price is duble of the intel 900 card, also i have someone that sell his T43 with 1.86CPU with 1Giga Ram and x300 ATI for good price and i wonder if this x300 ram is good enough for 3D games or maybe i could not play any new games in the laptop.
just let you know, here in ISRAEL T43 with 1.86 512ram and x300 ati new cost 2500~ and the same T43P cost with 128ATI cost 3000$ and i can get the one the some sell it with 2.5 years warrany for 1600$.
o.k, thats my sotry. please help me what sould i do.

    Thanks allot
    Kastro.

What games do you want to be able to play? That's the most important thing.

The X300 isn't as bad of a card as some make it out to be - if you're not after the latest and greatest, and don't mind turning the settings down, it should be enough.

Intel GMA900 - just forget it.

X300 is a fair card. It should be about as good as the 9600, which I've got. I can play DOOM3 at 1024x768 at low quality settings, and it's OK.

The FireGL V3200 is better than the X300, but if you are lucky, you can overclock the X300 and it will be almost as good (except that 64MB of RAM may be too little for some new games).

No T43 should be used to play games. The T43 is a business laptop. If you play games on your T43, you're out of the intended demographic for this machine.

And heaven forbid someone not in the target market use a Thinkpad! The world will come crumbling down around our ears!

The OP can do whatever he wants with the laptop he gets. The fact is that a T43 is fully capable of playing games, and there no reason not do so. When you buy a Thinkpad, you don't sign a contract that prohibits your from playing games on it.

OP: Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with those games, so I can't really help you there, but hopefully someone else will be able to give you some better information. Maybe try asking whether an X300 can handle those games in the Gaming forum.

Don't know if it is available over there, but the Z60 with the x600 is probably a better gaming ThinkPad.

Better than the T43, for sure. But if price wasn't an issue, I'd still get the T43p 15". It's got a better screen and isn't widescreen. Some games don't like widescreen and become stretched, as we know.

i see the Z60 and i did not like it at all.
i fill in the Z60 like it's cheap laptop and it's havy.
i know that this laptop (t43) is not for game, for games i have the Nvidia 6800GT with 256Ram in my desktop computer.
i just ask if i could play games with this laptop, becuse i hear that games does not even start in this unit. it's not a problem if i will play on 800x600 with the game.

    Thanks.

I haven't heard of a single game that won't start with an X300.

    Thanks.

The FireGL T2 will be better. It's like 9600 and it has more RAM too.
