I'm a little confused about IBM's wireless options (I've never used wireless before). When I go to customize a T43 (2687D4U), it says...

    Integrated wireless
    Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (Standard)

    Wireless connectivity (these are checkboxes)
    o 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Adapter II [$34.00]
    o 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Adapter II [$34.00]
    o Erricson GC83 Edge PC Card [$212.49]
    o Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Mini PCI Adapter [$8.50]
o Sprint PCS Wireless WAN Card [$152.15]
    o ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless CardBus Adapter [$80.10]

If "Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG" is integrated, do I still need to add one of the "Wireless connectivity" checkboxes? Does that mean configuring wireless has two parts, the integrated plus "connectivity?" I haven't seen it presented this way on other manufacturers' sites. If that is the case, which one do I select? Is the Intel b/g mini PCI adapter okay, or should I upgrade to get a/b/g?

good grief, IBM isn't helping themselves by making things easier for their customers to buy are they? Well, there's only one Mini-PCI Adapter slot on a laptop so those 802.11 a/b/g selections would be an upgrade to the standard, it's not clear to me why they have two of the same checkboxes...that's whack. Don't choose both. The Edge PC Card would be an add on if you want to pay for an EDGE network service and use the EDGE modem which is necessary to receive signals, the modem goes in the PCMCIA slot (PC card slot). Sprint card is essentially the same thing but on a Spring network (Cingular offers EDGE). The other 2200BG selection that's $8.50 must just be the more recent 802.11 b/g Intel card so if you choose that they'd replace your standard with this more recent version (again, thanks IBM for not indicating what the heck part # card that is). The ThinkPad 11/a/b/g would be a card that goes in the PC card slot. That's dumb, I don't know why you'd want that other than emergency backup if your internal wireless ever failed...which it won't. Honestly, going with the default might be easiest, you don't need 802.11 a, it's never used.
