Hey, my dad has a Lenovo T43 that he would like to upgrade the hard drive in but we're not sure what drive to put in it. Does anyone know if they use SATA or IDE drives? I have read on some forums and people say that certain notebook drives will not work and give a '2010' error of some sort. I don't really want to drive to the store and buy one only to find it won't work so if someone could post a link to a 320GB (preferably 7,200 RPM) drive that will work I'd greatly appreciate it.
Please get back to me as soon as possible, thanks.

The T43 uses IDE interface and here is an article with some solutions for the 2010 error: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_non-ThinkPad_hard_disks

Thanks for the post! Do you know if Western Digital drives will work? There was a list of drives that will work but the only ones I can get in a store are Western Digitals.

WD won't work, you will just get the 2010 error, if you can live with the beep noise then there should not be much problems.

Ok, thanks!

I upgraded my T42 with seagate IDE 320G, works well so far.
I got a Hitachi 100G, also work fine. -
The T42 doesn't have the 2010 error.

T43 is different to the previous generation of T4x series..... and in my opinion this really made the T43 one of the worst T4x Thinkpad ever......
