    @all:

    Thanks for helping me out earlier.
    I was planning to purchase the R52 (18496VU) but it seems I'm destined to be a proud owner of a T series model. I'm trying to decide between the T43 (2686DFU) and the T42 (2379RFU). Here are the brief specs (only the ones I'm interested in comparing):

    T43:
    1.73 GHz @ 533 MHz FSB, 14.1 inch display, 64 MB Radeon x300 Mobility, 512 MB DDR2 RAM (PC 4200), 60 GB HDD, 4.7 pounds, Intel Wireless b/g

    T42:
    1.8 GHz @ 400 MHz FSB, 14.1 inch display, 32 MB Radeon 9000 Mobility, 512 MB DDR RAM (PC 2700), 60 GB HDD, 5.7 pounds, ThinkPad WiFi (a/b/g)

    Both have the same cost. I've been reading about the heat and battery life issues with the newer Sonoma chips. Is the T43 a better choice over the T42?
    Is there a T42/T43 that offers more choices for a sub 1400 price?

    have you got that T42 configured with an extended life battery (9-cell), that 1lb weight difference can only be explained by that.

    If these guys are the same cost and you don't care too much about graphics performance (neither will be that great anyway, but better than integrated graphics at least), I'd go for the T42 for what I'm *guessing* is a config with a larger battery. Performance would be close on these two machines, the T43 would definitely have the edge in a race, but if you prefer cooler running and longer battery life the T42 is the best. If you need or just feel better with the boosted performance of the T43 or place value on having a more recent model #, then roll with the T43 (btw, that ExpressCard slot is still a joke as far as finding accessories for, even months after the release). In my view, it's a win-win decision, both are great :)

    It has got to be a typo. There is no way the nine cell weighs a pound more than the six cell. I'd agree on the T42. Runs cool, less noise not quite as speedy, but if all you are doing is office, surfing and burning a few discs you'll never notice. Good Luck.

    Best guess is they are including the power adapter or it is a typo.

    Not so sure. 1.73 vs 1.8 it is, so it should be pretty darn close.

    Thanks for the reply, guys.
    I've decided to go ahead with the T43 (getting a juicy discount) but it seems that Lenovo has stopped offering the free ThinkPad leather case :( :(

    Btw, does anyone whether a T44 (or something similar) is gonna be released soon or not?

    Next in line is the T50 with dual core Yonah Pentium M. Sometime next year.
