I'm getting a broadcom message saying check media cable connection. No operating system found. Does this mean my Toshiba HD is crapping out on me?

I've pulled out the hard drive and reinstalled it several times and my operating system still will not boot. Is the hard drive dying? It happened once earlier this evening as well and later booted. I have not dropped my laptop recently and the hard drive was never dislodged at any time today.

Sounds like a failing/failed drive, or a faulty connector. Still under warranty?

No longer under warranty. Which drive should I get to replace the dying Toshiba? I'm thinking Seagate and their 5 year warranty. Do I want ATA 6 or an SATA drive? I assume the SATA drives slide in the same as the old ATA 6.

What brand of drives are in the T60's?

With the T43, you may need to buy a replacement directly from IBM. They had odd issues with a PATA to internal bridge setup, and required drives with special firmware, or they would throw errors.

Its a PATA or ATA-6 drive, but a special version. The t43 was the first and only model of the IBM line that had this wacky setup.

My T60 has a Fujitsu drive, wish it was seagate.

well, you can buy a drive elsewhere, look around over on thinkpads.com for how to eliminate the 2010 error.
