I can get a t43 2686 dgu for 1799 can or 2041 can with 3 year onsite warrenty. thats quite a bit more then I wanted to spend. Do you think it is need, or can I live without it? Whats everyone else done?

    Cheers

as far as I know you can allways buy extra warrany later (I was told so on Lenovo's sales line), untill your base warranty ends

That's true. You pretty much have a year to save up for a warranty extension (although it may cost more to get it seperately than bundled with the laptop). Unfortunately, the extension starts at the time that you purchased the laptop, so you don't get an extra three years on top of the base one year warranty.

You should also check out the Visa discount site, if that could work for you: ThinkPad Visa Site. Looks like you can get the T43 with three years onsite for about $1850 CAD (or a T42 with three years onsite for $1660 :D).

EDIT: Guess I should have paid more attention; the prices you listed are off of the Visa discount site, and for a different type of laptop than what I found. Sorry.

You could go with three year depot repair. I think it is $112 on IBMs website.

Do you guys know which warrenty the 3 years on site is?
They have three one for 260 one for 350 and for over 600?
Im guessing it would be the cheapest one.

The cheapest one is probably depot repair meaning they pick it up and send it in to the depot for repair. The second is probably the on-site. The last one I'm guessing includes some accidential coverage cause it is kind of expensive.
