    Hi,

I'm about to buy a T430 and I basically have the options to buy it with no SSD, 128GB SSD or 180GB SSD.
I'd like to know what exactly these 128 and 180GB SSDs are that Lenovo ships. I think I read somewhere that the 180GB model is a rebranded Intel 530. And I guess the 128GB model is a Sandisk. But I might be wrong in both cases.

So can someone please tell me what I'd have to expect?

I have an T530 with a 180GB SSD. It is made by Intel so I'm fairly sure it's the 520 model. It is very good.

The other option would be to get the hard drive and add the mSATA SSD, if you're not planning on using WWAN. That way you've got speed and storage. There's very little practical difference between SSDs. They're all fast.

    Thanks!

I'm going to insert the Intel 310 mSATA SSD that was formerly installed in my Dell M6500. Lenovo's SSD will be replaced by a HDD. I will then install the SSD in my father's desktop PC.
The question is if I can save money by buying the SSD bundled with the laptop or if it would be cheaper to buy the laptop with no drive at all and getting the SSD elsewhere. To compare prices I'd need to know the exact models.

You tend to save money by installing the SSD yourself. (I typically do a CTO with a 500GB HDD and then put the drive in the UltraBay, replacing it by a SSD myself.)

Samsung and Crucial have been two solid brands for a few years. If you live in the US, Newegg is a good place to shop.

    Please stick to the topic!
I'm not looking for general tips on where to buy the laptop or on what to do with the various SSD/HDD/Ultrabay options.

This thread is merely about what SSDs Lenovo installs in their T430 laptops.

Well, you did ask whether you can save money by buying the SSD with the laptop (the answer is almost certainly "no," unless you manage to get a price glitch as has happened a few times in past years). You have to remember that when you buy the laptop with the SSD, you won't be getting the HDD as well, which could easily be worth another $50 or so.

Lenovo uses a variety of different manufacturers for SSDs, purely dependent on what's available for what form factor. The 180GB option is likely Intel, while the 128GB option could be SanDisk, Samsung, or even Toshiba, I believe.

Well, then please excuse my poor wording.
I'm really only looking for technical data in this thread.

Thanks for reminding me again why I chose to abandon this forum one and a half years ago.
