I am very interested in buying a T430. I had a T420 but ended up sending it back because it had a dreadful AU Optronics display with bubbly anti-glare coating and screen-door effect. I understand from reviews and comments that the T430 panels made by AU Optronics have the same issues. That said, I think I would be happy with the quality of the LCD panels made by the other two suppliers (Samsung and LG). Does anyone know any tricks to get a particular panel? Maybe from a reseller vs. direct from Lenovo (who has not been helpful). Before sending my T420 back I talked to tech support and they offered to replace the panel, but even they would not agree to use a particular display.
Thanks

If you buy directly from Lenovo, you won't know which panel you're getting until you get the serial number. Then you can do the parts look up, but you get the serial number when it ships. That means a restocking fee if you decide to return it. If you can get a seller to give you the serial number, then the parts look up is an option, but I can't see a large reseller making the effort. Maybe I'm wrong and it doesn't hurt to ask. Probably your best option for getting the serial number is eBay or you could ask the seller which screen comes with the machine. I did that when I got my X200t. I don't think any of the panels is all that great, but all the 14" business class notebooks are that way. If screen quality is a priority, then you might want to look at some other machines.
