Hi, I just got my t430 today and I was wondering about a noise, whenever I click or load something, it makes little clicking noise, i am not sure if it is from the hard drive or not but my older desktops make this noise, didn't expect it from newer hardware, i ran a hard drive test and it was rated as good, with around 2100 hours of use, i am not sure where to start, i have 10 days to return the item for a full refund but i really don't want to go through that if it is normal for the noise, any help would be appreciated, usually clicking noise = death

edit: okay indicator light flashes when the noise comes so i am assuming it is the hard drive

Clicking or crunching noises usually come from the hard drive. 2100 hours of usage is quite a bit of mileage already, especially for a recent machine such as yours. I own a T420 and in my opinion its a quiet machine to use on normal/low power profiles so I expect it to be similar for the T430.

Sometimes it can just be the characteristics of the drive itself, I know certain Seagate and WD drives which tend to produce a lot of crunching noises while processing data so it can’t be helped. If it does bother you maybe consider switching a different brand of drive or a SSD even which virtually eliminates such sounds due to non-moving parts.

okay, it is not really loud, i only hear it when i click on things, i just ran a long hdd test and it passed, i used several programs as well, all said pass, i noticed the sound is only when there is CPU consumption, during the test there were no noises, it's basically only when i perform a task

it's even quieter than this noise
