I have a T430 with 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive. I will have had it 2 years in February and I'm thinking of doing some updates to it.

I see that there are now mSATA drives that are larger than 256 GB. I was thinking of purchasing one and then installing my operating system on the mSATA drive. Then I will have more room available on my old hard drive and more speed for booting.

Can you use one of the larger mSATA drives? The Crucial site only shows the 256 GB drive for my computer, but I wonder if it's just not updated or if there is really something that prevents me from putting a larger drive in my laptop?

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good drive?

    Thanks.

You can install any size mSATA SSD in that T430. If you feel that you need 512GB or more and can afford it, go for it.

Adding more RAM - to at least 8GB total - would be a wise move as well if you're intent on keeping the machine for some time to come.

    Happy upgrading.
