Any of you guys having issues with external USB keyboards or mice connected to USB ports on the dock not waking the notebook?
Scenario:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
T430s lid closed & docked to Mini Dock Plus Series 3 170w (433835U)
USB wireless keyboard receiver plugged into rear dock USB port. Receiver has a blue light indicator that blinks when receiving signals from the keyboard.
USB wireless Logitech mouse receiver plugged into rear dock USB port.
Pressing the sleep button on the external keyboard puts the system to sleep as expected.
Issue:
Pressing any key on external keyboard does not wake the system. No activity on receiver's light blue light as if completely powered off.
Clicking on mouse also does not wake the system.
When plugging either receiver directly to USB ports on the T430s, either device wakes the notebook as expected.
It's as if the USB ports on the dock are completely dead/powered off during sleep.
In Windows device manager, power management tab for both keyboard & mouse have "Allow this device to wake the computer" checked on.
Thought I would check with you guys in case I missed something before calling support to replace the dock.
Ideas?
-
I seriously doubt that support or dock replacement will help. The dock is a USB hub, and when the laptop sleeps, all ports are down.
-
This shouldn't be the case, unless Lenovo does something seriously wonky with their docks.
We have over 60 Dell E6xxx series notebooks at the office with docking stations. All of them wake from external keyboard and mice as expected. -
I'll check in a couple hours, but I think mine works fine. I don't close the lid though, more worried about heat issues.
-
What model notebook are you using?
Otherwise, I'm really stumped as to why this doesn't work as expected. -
T430s. The mouse doesn't take it out of sleep, onboard keyboard doesn't take it out of sleep either. You have to tap the button. I never sleep in the dock though, so it's not an issue for me, but that sucks to hear. I was just told by someone with an M4600 that its the same behavior in their dock.
-
Same here with T410 and W520 with docks. The only way to wake it them up is power button or the fingerprint reader.
So the ability to wake up T430s from USB devices, even only if plugged directly, seems like progress. In most desktop motherboards I used to have only one or two USB ports supported wake btw. -
Thanks again for checking Ole.
I also asked a friend who has an X230 using the same dock and he's able to wake with a usb mouse connected to the back of the dock exactly the way its supposed to work. -
Lenovo - Turn on laptop from sleep mode without opening the lid of the laptop (Docking station)
Like I mentioned earlier, we have over 60 Dell notebooks that wake via usb devices plugged into the docking stations. I use it all the time.
My home desktop (Asus motherboard) also wakes from sleep by keyboard & mouse no matter which USB ports they're plugged into.
T430S & Mini Dock Plus - cannot wake from external USB keyboard or mouse
