I've had my T430s for around 5 months now and the battery life sucks!

Starting at a full charge, I boot up the device, select the "Power Saver" battery plan and all I get is 1 hour 40 minutes battery life. Of course I have screen brightness at around 90% and WiFi turned on.

Since this laptop is Windows 8, Lenovo doesn't supply their power management software with it.

What can I do to improve the battery life on this laptop?

Removing Windows 8 and installing Windows 7 isn't going to help. Windows 8 is actually better on battery life.

Having said that, something is seriously wrong with your machine or environment. You should be getting three hours or more.

I found a way to solve my battery problem:

    1. Switch to the "Power saver" plan.
    2. Restart
    3. Set screen brightness closer to 50%

This way I get around 4 hours. If I restart before I change the power plan, it doesn't work!
