    Hello Everyone:
    i'd like some recommendations:
i must buy a new Laptop and i'm pretty much decided for a thinkpad but i've still have a tough choice:

    My max budget is 1500€
so here as my 2 last pretender:

    on one side:
    1300€
    Thinkpad R60
    Core Duo T2400 /
    512mb
    80gb 500rpm
    15-tft 1400*1050
    Dvd Recordable
    2.949kg
    1year Warranty
I plan to buy an extended warranty if i go this path

    On the Other:
    1453€
IBM THINKPAD T43p MODEL 2668-PEG MOBILE WORKSTATION
    Intel Pentium M Centrino Processor 770 - 2.13GHz
    1 GB Ram
    80.0 GB / 5400rpm,
    14.1-in TFT SXGA+ 1400x1050,
ATI Mobility Fire GL V3200 128MB graphics chipset
    DVD Recordable
    Chipset Intel 915PM
    Intel 11a/b/g & Bluetooth
    FingerPrint Reader
    weight : 2.2Kg (Titanium Cover)
    3-Years Warranty

The weight is not so much of an issue: my former notebook was a VGN A which was around 8pounds. i'd like to play (a little nothing to fancy) and be Vista ready when times come.

And frankly i can't decide myself. Any information about which one to choose would be welcome.

    Regards

well if u not concern about rigidity of the model as the thinkpad t43p is much rigid body then R60. well both well made and rigid but t43 has an edge.so for windows vista i advice u to go for R60 also for playing games dual core has better performance well u dont mention the video card of the R60 if it has x1400 then it can play your games easily and also able to run Aero Glass afects on vista

also try to incrase the ram of R60 from 512mb to 1 gb if u go for that model as for windows vista it is better to have this amount of ram

    Thanks for the quick response!

btw, it's the first thinkpad i'm buying so i'd like to ask one or two more information:
    - the extended warranty must be bought with the PC or can i wait a months or two?

The R is still pretty good just not as good as the T. No real shame in that since most other notebooks aren't either. The R is pretty rigid as well it is just you don't get the mag-alloy lid. The R with the Core Duo is gonna offer better performance. The thing that would concern about the R is the weight. The T is gonna be almost a couple pounds lighter.

Well as i said, i was trained with my VAIO weighting 8lbs. ;)
As long that the R is not to afraid to relatively travel (around 1 big commute per month), i think i'll go for this one.

The R60 is lovely. I'd recommend upgrading to 1Gb RAM.

change of parameter: today the T60 with C2D have finally arrived in Belgium so i think i'll bite the bullet; use my PDA with his foldable keyobard in the intercourse and spare more (christmas is not that far away after all) to get a nifty T60

    Thanks again for the responses

The R60 has some better components than the T43. Also, the R should be cooler.

My T43 has some creaks. The perfromance on the R60 will be better - everything from processor to wifi to optical (the T43 has a slow poor optical drive)

I'd get the R60 over the T43 in an instant.

If weight matters, your T60 is even better.
