So I've read a lot of mixed reviews regarding the newer T400 series.

I'm interested in a 440p that I'm going to max out on my own (SSD, 16GB of RAM etc)

I have a 2012 MBP and I'm interested in moving to Windows full time...

Anyways, what is the refresh cycle like on Thinkpads? When may the T450p/s come out?

Is there another laptop you may recommend over the 440p? I'm pretty underwhelmed by most PCs and Lenovo is my preferred option but after reading about a fair amount of QC issues (light bleed, cases warped etc) is it worth it to even give it a shot?

Just curious to hear from others who may have a little more knowledge. Let me know, thanks!

As always, Lenovo will refresh the ThinkPad line when Intel brings out the new CPUs, so it's going to be a while. I think if you want a 14" notebook with a quad and a 1080 IPS LCD, the T440p is a pretty good option. The only thing that would stop me would be the new pointstick setup, which my gut reaction is against, though I've not used it, so I'll reserve judgment. I've heard to the newer build are better. That and I wouldn't spend that much for a notebook.

Honestly, you can find bad things written about every notebook ever made. Try to find the best balance.

I'm not expecting Tx50 machines until 2015 considering the Tx40 models did not come out until late 2013, so you might have a long wait. And then there's no guarantee the T450 line will be any better put together than the T440 line (and might be worse). I'd just get a T440p now, with an onsite warranty just in case. They're not that bad -- I have mixed opinions about the new design and I think the build quality has slipped a bit, but you'd be hard pressed to find a compact, fairly solid, quad-core machine for anywhere close to the same price IMO

I think pipspeak hits the nail: Broadwell was delayed several times now, and won´t be available until the end of the year, and even then, the T440p might not be updated until mid 2015, because Broadwell will focus on Ultrabooks (the U CPUs). We might see an T440(s) Update near the end of the year, maybe called T450(s), but not a T450p. So the wait could be really, really long.

The standard/classic M/MQ CPU seem to be not as important for Intel anymore.
