I'm looking into getting the new ThinkPad T440p on which I plan on running Xubuntu.
I'm not sure whether I should go with the Intel HD 4400 or the NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M 1GB

I read that there might not be drivers for the NVIDIA GPU, is that true?
I don't mind spending the extra $ on the NVIDIA as long as Xubuntu will support it.

I don't know from first-hand experience yet, but it certainly appears that the Geforce GT 730M that comes in the T440p has support from a proprietary driver found in the Ubuntu repositories. I found an article from Phoronix published in March that states the 310.40 driver has support for that card (read the sixth paragraph).

I'll be getting my own T440p at the beginning of January, installing Ubuntu or a variant, and will have a chance to play around with it starting in the middle of next month.
