I am in the process of buying a notebook for CPU-intensive tasks and am considering T440p, T540p and W540. Good heat-management and a fast cpu are the number one concern for me. Likely to run multiple tasks concurrently. I am not too concerned about GPU. What would you recommend?

    Bump for response.

I have two other thinkpads and so portability is only a secondary concern for me.

The T540p and W540 are very similar and have essentially the same CPU options. Generally the T540p is cheaper, but sometimes Lenovo discounts systems weirdly. However, if you are just looking for heat-management and powerful CPU, I would suggest looking into the Dell M4800 or M6800. They have a dual fan design and when I owned one the system ran remarkably cool even under load.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the specification of M4800 and feel its weight of 6.3 LB is too heavy for me.
