Yes, the i5-4210U should have more than enough CPU processing power for general office and multimedia use.

I haven't seen the T540p's 3K screen in person, so I can't say. I think it mostly comes down to whether you want the extra screen real estate, at the expense of portability. The AOU panel on the T440s is a great screen with good contrast and colors, though.

Can't decide which to buy, the T440s with AOU or the T540p with 3K.

I know that the 540 have more power, but do I really need it........:.....??

For your work, the T540p's additional power will not be useful. Your prime considerations should be 1) screen size/resolution, portability, and 3) battery life. If #1 is most important, get the T540p with a cheaper CPU, integrated graphics, and the 3K screen. If #2 and #3 are most important, go for the T440s with integrated graphics and the FHD IPS display.

If you've enough money to buy the I7, you should get it. Otherwise, you might regret not buying it in a year's time

Given the OP's usage, the i7 won't make a lick of difference, except cost more money.
