    T440s FHD 4300U cost the same as a T440p FHD 4330M.

Toughest choice ever. What do you say

    Intel Core i5 4330M vs 4300U

Better GPU in the M. Better battery life in the U.

T440p can be upgraded to a quad down the road, T440s can't.

Surely there's more you need from a computer than a specific CPU or a specific price. What are you gonna use it for?

IMO the T440p is probably best to consider if you need a built-in optical drive or some serious processing power. Otherwise the T440s is thinner, lighter, and has better battery life.

If the laptop was my only computer I would go with the T440p and one of the top end processors. But I have a high end desktop that i built, so lightness and battery life is my priority when it comes to a laptop, and as a result I am currently looking into getting the T440s.

I'd say the T440p. It doesn't weigh that much more than the T440s and if you want more battery life later, get an UltraBay battery. Or the 9-cell battery PLUS the UltraBay battery. I went with the i5-4300M for a combo of good battery life and still lots of power... Plus the ability to upgrade the processor later.

If you're looking for a performance orientated 14" machine then I would sway towards the T440p due to the better processor and graphics options, not to mention that its upgradeable in the future if you wish to increase longevity. Opt for the T440s if you value ultraportability and are content with the standard processing power.

What are the gaming capabilities of the 440p with the discrete card? Can it play modern games at medium settings? I feel like if I could play something like Assasins Creed or Arma 3, it would be enough to justify purchasing it over the 440s.

There is a huge different in weight between the two machines, especially if you are lugging it around all day:

    T440s 3 + 3 cell: 3.5 lbs.
    T440p 6 cell: 4.7 - 4.77 lbs.

There isn't a drastic difference in runtime:

    T440s 3 + 3 cell: 8.4 hrs.
    T440p 6 cell: 7.2 - 7.4 hrs.

I was thinking the T440s was a little heavier. I must have been thinking of one with a touchscreen. I guess I'm a bit biased because I bought a "p", but 1.2 lbs still doesn't sound "huge" to me. Of course I deal with average consumer notebooks all the time, too. I don't think I'll feel the T440p is heavy.

Depends on your usage! The U processor will give you better battery life, so if you travel a lot, that might be the better option

That's strange T440p has Haswell processor which claims provides very good battery life than any other processors. However T430 is giving a better battery life than T440p why is that?

    T440p - upto 7.2 hours on 6 cell
    T430 - upto 9.2 with 6 cell.

    Am I missing something here?

Do the t440p and t440s use the same screens? Can you get a multitouch screen version of the t440p?

Touchscreen on the T440p is coming, but not available yet. I do believe Lenovo uses the same screens between those models.

It chipset enable quad core processors, why you say this laptop can't upgrade?
You can always buy it by yourself and install it by your own if lenovo do not offer it.

The T440s uses ultrabook CPUs, which are soldered to the motherboard. You can't upgrade that on your own.

What about t430s? I'm buying one next week.
PD: is the "U" in those processor names that means they are soldered? What do u know about rgb processors?

    It doesn't matter.

T400s, T410s, T420s, T430s...all have soldered and not socketed CPUs.
