I got in touch with the seller. He promised to look into it when the Chinese new year vacation is over. Personally, not being able to adjust the settings is a huge downer for me. I'll be using the original touchpad in the mean time. This one is stressing out my finger.

What I got from the ebay was not the one based on Synaptics. so you will need to use a different driver based on Alps.
Try,
ALPS ThinkPad UltraNav Driver (Windows 8.1 64bit/ 7 32bit, 64bit) - ThinkPad E450, E550
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-e450
j5gh07ww
My pad now works fine. -
-
I've tried every solution in this thread including trying the latest Synaptics package from the Synaptics website and nothing has worked. The T450s driver package does install correctly but still no 2 finger scrolling, no double-tap, and no configuration tab in the mouse properties box.
-
What I did was,
1) Uninstall whatever Ultranav or Synaptics driver that you have installed.
2) On a device Manager you will see ! mark on SM Bus Controller, leave it as it is.
3) downloaded
ALPS ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad E450, E450c, E550, E550c Version 8.216.1616.114 Date 1/6/2015 j5gh07ww
4) Execute and install and reboot
5) If you look at the device manager, you will still see the ! mark on SM Bus Controller, that is fine.
In the mouse field, if you don't see "Thinkpad UltraNav", you will need to update driver manually
from the device manager.
6) Select "Search for computer", "Search from the list (L)" and "Disk"
7) select the directory where j5gh07ww has been extracted
8) It will show the warning, but ignore it
9) reboot
and it worked! -
I just installed one of the touchpads with physical buttons that I received from the eBay seller most people here seem to be using. My machine is a T440p running Windows 7. So far, it's working well with driver version 18.0.7.57. All functions are working and the mouse properties shows the proper tab for the UltraNav features.
A visual examination of the touchpad leads me to believe it is made by Synaptics and doesn't have the NFC function. I know there has been speculation that a touchpad with NFC or made by ALPS won't work with the driver I have on this system now.
Let me know if anyone having problems getting the touchpad to work on a T440p has questions on my settings. I'll do my best to help. -

Finally got it working on Win8.1 with this driver.
-
I installed the Windows 10 Technical Preview on an M.2 SSD in my T440p so that I could test the replacement touchpad with physical buttons and the older driver that I'm using under Windows 7 (Synaptics version 18.0.7.57). It worked for the most part, with a few exceptions. The UltraNav tab appears in the mouse control panel and looks the same as under Windows 7. But I can't get the middle button to do both middle-button scrolling and and act as a middle-click at the same time when I have "Use for scrolling" checked in the UltraNav tab. This works under Windows 7. Touchpad scrolling doesn't seem to work, either. These could be more general issues of using Windows 10 with a Synaptics device, rather than just the older driver with the replacement touchpad Time will tell.

Good morning everyone,
Wanted to start off by saying thanks to everyone on here for offering such great information, this is my first post! Unfortunately though I am running into a snag and was hoping someone could offer some additional help.
Recently I was issued a new T440 laptop at work - as we all know the base model leaves a bit to be desired - I went ahead and swapped in a B140HAN01.2 display and what I presume is a T450/T550 touch pad. The display is awesome however I cannot for the life of me get the touchpad to work as desired. No matter what driver I install I cannot get the fancy features of the touchpad to work (such as two finger scroll) nor can I get the UltraNav options to show up under mouse properties.
I have tried the drivers linked from this previous posts and also those direct from Lenovo with similar results... I have also tried installing the driver through the installer and also manually pointing to the extracted file location via Device Manager.
I am wishing I snapped an image of the back of the touchpad prior to installation - however this is the one I purchased from eBay - Link. (Just in case anyone was wondering this is the display I purchased as well - Link) Awesome seller - Items came overnight and packaged perfect. Highly recommended.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the full functionality of the trackpad working!? Thanks! -
Best wishes for getting it working!Sam K likes this. -
Btw, for people who want videos on how to take apart their ThinkPads to install the replacement touchpad, there are videos and instructions on https://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/landingpage?orgname=Lenovo Service Training. -
I like the clickpad on my refurb t540p. Its kind of cool. I like the sound the button makes as well. It's not like a normal mouse clickety sound...it has a deep masculine click to it which does not make it annoying to me any way. Was going to do this mod since checking the reviews before it arrived, but it has grown on me. And $50? Shoot I'd rather upgrade my ram for that price!

After changing touchpad in T440 T440s T440p, you can get following error ( after registry cleaning, reinstalling driver, etc) :
Unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device
solution can be found here:

Hi Everyone, I've picked up one of these clickpads for a t440p and am having some major driver trouble. I've tried four separate drivers and none of them have worked.
I have also tried installing the drivers on a clean reformat to make sure they are being properly installed.
The Hardware Ids are:
ACPI\VEN_LEN&DEV_0036
ACPI\LEN0036
*LEN0036
There are several stories of success with this hardware ID but I have seen multiple drivers recommended for it.
he alps drivers do not recognize any device and fail to install. The closest I have gotten is the [n10gx25w] driver which successfully installs and identifies the hardware as "ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device". Unfortunately there are no configuration options available so scrolling does not work. -
Our German friends solved this some time ago. See this post for details.

Thanks for helping me get my wonderful new touchpad -- with REAL BUTTONS!!! -- working! The link above from our German friends (with the help of Google translate) did the trick for me.
FYI: My touchpad reported as Synaptics in my Device Manger (with LEN0036 hardware). And, as the instructions said, I had to tell the driver install to proceed even though it reported that this driver is not for my hardware.
I'm so happy to have real buttons. -
Did the Swap on my 2014 Thinkpad Yoga 14, everything worked in Windows 10, once I uninstalled the latest Synamptics driver. Otherwise with it installed, the TrackPoint wouldn't function at all. I had to then turn off automatic driver updates and installs in Windows 10, because otherwise it would reinstall the driver and my track point would break again,... lame.
-
Has anyone been able to successfully enable the middle button trackpoint scrolling for windows 10 native applications and settings?
-
My level of frustration continues to grow on this... Running Windows 10 Pro, and If I load the Synaptics driver from either Lenovo or Windows Update it borks the track point. So much so that the UltraNav settings in mouse control panel don't see a trackpoint installed (it's all greyed out) Uninstalling the Synaptics driver (and reverting to PS/2 generic Microsoft driver) will give me TrackPoint functionality back, but then the Trackpad then no longer works. Also kind of weird is that the Ultranav doesn't show a track pad with buttons, but click zones... Yuck.
Also Windows update would continually reinstall the Synaptics driver.... Even after I told Windows 10 not to do driver updates... ARGH! Finally found this hot fix from Microsoft for Windows 10 that allows you to block an update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
I have tried also getting the Synapics driver directly from them, however it just gives me an error when it tries to install. I'm pretty sure it's not an ALPS track pad, as nothing sees it as such. So frustrating... I can only have one mouse or the other. I prefer TrackPoint, but it's nice to have the pad now and again.
Oh and to answer cire38iz... My middle button works only sometimes.... Yeah... pretty ticked about this. -
I am using the "Synaptics 18.0.7.57 8/5/2014" driver and everything is working on windows 10 pro except scrolling via middle button with the trackpoint. Windows updates have been disabled to prevent auto installing updates.

I'm pretty sure you can fix the missing menu's from Registry, also you should be able to get buttons working. try going here : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\synaptics and see if you can find something. Also try this search

I have found a Windows 10 driver for the Synaptics version of the updated TrackPad that allows all scrolling (TrackPad and TrackPoint) and button functions to work properly using Windows 10. The driver is for the T450/T450s and the file is jbg206ww.exe. The driver version is 19.0.14.3 with a date of 7/2/2015 and will show up as Synaptics Pointing Device under Device Manager. Installation of this driver is the same routine as previous..uninstall any previous version from Add/Remove Programs and Device Manager, reboot and manually install the driver from Device Manager. If you still have issues, then just run the driver setup package.
I have used this driver for my T440 and T540p running Windows 10 that both have the updated Synaptics TrackPad...one with a hardware ID of Lenovo 036, and the other with 034. Here is the US download link, which only has a 64bit version of the driver:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/pro...ries-laptops/thinkpad-t450/downloads/DS104007 -
It's probably the same but you say it's a date of 7/2/2015, however the link you posted now shows 8/25/2015, don't suppose you have the original exe file you used that you could send to me to try?
Thank you. -
The hotfix is essential. Also, if you are running the Windows Insider version of 10, every major OS update will re-install the wrong drivers. You have to re-block, uninstall the Synaptics, re-install the Alps drivers, reboot and you are off until the next major update.
Aggravating, but works every time. It's worth it for separate buttons (T440s w/Alps version of the pad). -
Installed Synaptics T450 touchpad to T440s, working ok with Windows 7 standard drivers and showing up as just PS/2 mouse. Disabled touch from bios and buttons are working fine. Problem is that couldn't find any Synaptics driver that shows the physical buttons in control panel/mouse to get advanced settings and better middle button scroll.
Even if installing T450 driver from Lenovo site, mouse settings look like old T440 settings with no physical buttons. When installing any Synaptics T450 versions, touchpad becomes completely inoperative and have to return to standard drivers.
