I have a T460S which is behaving very strangely. It has recently had Windows 10 reinstalled onto it, but shortly after installation, the machine seems to corrupt and restart, at which point I cannot log onto the user account - I get the error:
"The ProfSVC service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded"
This leaves me stuck because there is no other user account with which to log into Windows. I tried reinstalling again but I get exactly the same thing - the machine installs a few drivers and then corrupts and restarts and I can't log on any more.
Does anyone know what could be going wrong here? I've run all the onboard hardware diagnostics and they've all come back as ok.

Hard drive is dead or dying? What model is it? Have you checked SMART statistics?

Have seen similar issue with a past unit bought used from eBay. Couldn't really find a solution - happened on win 7&10, so just returned it. Maybe Linux has better luck.
It might be the I.T department managing it has not untagged the unit / as in it still has asset tracking protection.Last edited: Sep 10, 2017 -
