I have a T500, an advanced dock and two Dell 21,5" IPS monitors. I have been reading a lot of threads about this but everyone seems to be having problems with hotdocking.

My hope is to run both monitors on 1900x1080. The internal graphic card in my t500 is a radeon hd3650. So, if i buy a HD radeon 3650 (normal size, cant find any card with same chipset that fits inside the dock) and a flexible PCIe riser card, will this enable me to hotdock since the driver is the same for both cards? i have to mount the card outside the dock but that isnt a problem...

or does anyone have a better solution to my problem?

    please help...

You would probably need to beef up the power supply of the Advanced dock to get the ATI 3650 working normally.

Basically you want two external monitors + one internal LCD working at the same time?

I thought about the powesupply, and i guess you`re right about that one. No, i`m not planning on using the internal LCD at the same time as the monitors. I only care about the monitors, but if I`m not wrong one 3650 cant handle two monitors, each running on 1900x1080 (using DVI).

my idea is to buy another 3650 and mount it outside the dockingstation (cant find a low profile version) using a flexible card riser, because it probably wont fit inside. but will i be able to hotdock whitout any problems?

i think others cant hotdock because they have used different graphic cards (one inside the dock, one internal), and this have caused som problems during hotdocking as a result of two different drivers (i think). so if i use the same type of graphic card inside the dock and inside the t500, will I then be able to hotdock since the drivers doesnt cause any problems anymore?

    1. The resolution is 1920 x 1080 not 1900 x 1080.

    2. Your laptop can drive two external LCD provided the internal LCD is not activated.

    3. If you want to connect the two external using dvi only, here is what you need to do. Your dock has one standard DVI port, which can drive one of the LCD. The Second LCD can be driven by the displayport on the laptop itself, you just need to get a displayport to dvi adapter.

but if I`m too lazy to connect the second monitor each time I dock :p do you know if my idea will work? using a extra hd3650

never used a HD3650 so i can't say for sure.

It is only an extra displayport cable, very easy to remove.
