I'm coming from an LG P300 and just got my new x301, so far so good I like it.

Has anyone seen the LED screen on the T500, how is it? Has anyone seen both the LED on the T500 and the X301? I'm wondering how they compare?

    Thanks.

Apparently you've not seen the T60 with the IPS screens or any of the other ThinkPads with IPS screens.

Interesting, because in my opinion the screen on the x301 isn't that great. I'm coming from a Sony Z and an LG P300, I think the LG has the best screen, the Sony second and this x301 a distant third.

It's an LED matte screen on the 301, it's something I haven't owned before so maybe I need to get used to it, granted there is no reflection in screen, then again the Sony Z had no reflection either but was crystal clear, the LG was easiest on the eyes, extremely clear with colors on the softer side...

In Canada this 301 I'm typing on retails at $4,500 plus tax on the Lenovo website, as a comparison the Sony Z can be bought for $1999 and the LG for $1599.

I should write a review comparing the three. A notebook's 'usability' is most important, spec's and cutting edge design are secondary, I want notebook that 'feels good' to use all day everyday.

Luckily Lenovo's keyboard, build quality and overall design help make up for the poor screen.

What's the best notebook, I'm not sure yet, the x301 is more than twice the price, and the LG clearly has some things over it, such as screen, HDMI port, SD card slots...

I'll know in a few more days but right now this screen is concerning me, it reminds me of my old Dell D820 screen, dim even highest setting, grainy, darker, similar to 'noise' you see in poor digital photo's ...

Back to my reason for the post, has anyone seen the x301 and T500 side by side? I'm hoping the LED screen that Lenovo (Canada) has on the T500 is better than the x301, according the post above it doesn't seem that way?

My T500 has an LED screeen, it super bright but backlight bleed is very high. It is the first thing you notice, but after a couple days it becomes normal and you get used to it. but lets see here...

    superior build quality
    super fast proc. 2.8Ghz!
cheap(in canada anyway) //dell doesn't have very good coupons here when Lenovo does!
    >6hours batterylife?!
    ...
    con the screen, worth it.

thanks for the in depth explanation :D

Pretty cool just like you i recently saw the p300 in store and was Stunned by the screen quality it probably had the best screen in the whole for all the notebooks at the store.

i find it very intriguing that the screen was even better then the Vaio Z's screen :D

A contractor at work a few months ago had a X300, which I got to play around with a bit. It seemed like a pretty nice machine. There's been some complaints about the X300's screen quality, but it seemed OK to me. It's not an IPS, but certainly brighter than my R60, which is not saying much. Supposedly the X301 is better screen wise, but I've not seen one myself.
