before when I use the Fn + home/end keys n the volume buttons to turn up/down volume n brightness I get the indicator at the bottom of the screen showing me the green bars, today they just vanished. Anyone know how to get them back?
-
Do the keys still work, or did they lose their functionality as well?
You'll likely need to download and install the drivers from Lenovo's support and downloads website. -
the keys work fine, just the green bar doesn't show up
-
I tweaked HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM\TPHOTKEY\OnScreenDisplay key in Windows Registry.
I changed the value of Size to 14 1e 28 14 (four hexadecimal numbers - taken from the other ThinkPad registry). -
still doesn't seem to work, theres also a Enable with 0x0000000000 should I change that to something else?
-
I presume you have tried to simply turn on OSD using a checkbox in "OSD tab" in "Advanced settings"? -
I had the same problem with the OSD becoming very small. It didn't entirely disappear, but it ended up being 1-2 pixels tall.
I bookmarked the following thread at the Lenovo forums. What worked for me was the first half of Agotthelf's post, message number four in the thread.

thx for the help guys, I got it to show up again but it's super tiny and I can't change the size of it =[. no matter what I type in the size box its still unreadably small
-
ah got it fixed it seems i can't change anything in the advanced settings/osd tab or else it'll mess up again.
-
is this due to a new update. after i updated my t500 couple of days ago. the volume bars disappeared
-
yeah probly, I followed the tip on the link snake provided. rebooted and it was back, if I opend the OSD tab in advanced display settings it dissappears again
-
That's what caused my OSD to go away too. The OSD tab in the display settings seems to write an incorrect value to the registry. Since you probably won't look at the OSD settings again after you're finished editing them to your liking, it's not a big issue to delete that value in the registry, but it's a little annoying to have to do it at all.

For instance, I set 750ms FadeoutTime - just for fun!
Also experimented with color to get transparency - but to no avail.
