I am cursed! Having used T60 with Flexview for 2 years, and now 3 days with T500 (1680x1050).

There is no heal for me until they put S-IPS back.

Sure, T500 is faster, cooler, keyboard more flexible ;) .

I don't need full viewing angle of S-IPS but this screen sucks.

Every now and then when i move my postion in chair I am grabbing screen to adjust angle. , so for robots is fine :D .

    Cheers,

    S-IPSed Marin

Sadly, I wouldn't expect one of these anytime soon.

This is Lenovo's comment about the death of IPS notebook displays.

Currently the only option for an IPS display is the Thinkpad Tablet series. However, these have integrated graphics and relatively low resolutions (although the screen is fantastic).

If my T60's flexview screen was brighter I would have probably tolerated the weight for longer instead of getting an x200s.

I'm with you on that - my A31's screen is as good as my main separate monitor. Using my T400 (and it's generally washed-out, blah/flat look and colors, no matter what settings I used) is pretty unfun that way.

The screens on the T400/T500 are as good or better than the screen on any other manufacturers laptop.

However, the screens on the T60P, A31P, and the Thinkpad Tablets are so superior to everything else on the market that the step down is painful.

It depends on what you're used to. I'm used to IPS panels, so despite that on the T400 being supposedly good, it still sucks compared to what I'm used to. :-(

They are not bad at dimmed light, funny though display is bright but

White is high level, colour like red washed out, sacrifice for brightness?

At office terrible, at home nice. There is another thing to notice,

If on batteries brightness stays the same, on S-IPS not, that was annoying on T60.

Intel has done a good work, it is a lot faster, but Lenovo did not.

Front headphone connector is a idea of someone on drugs, IMHO.

You were probably better off upgrading your T60 than getting a new one.

Nope, 2 years is enough, would have to replace a lot to get it in like new state. Thats about me, but what about Lenovo? My company is going for HP after ! 14 years of Thinkpads.

That still costs less than buying a new notebook. The difference between a Merom Core 2 Duo and a Penryn Core 2 Duo isn't all that great, but the IPS screen can't be beat.

I don't think so. I have copied HDD&installed drivers, so it is the same software.

It is considerably faster, ALT Tab is a blink. Not winword excel but warcraft and back.. :p

I'll keep T500, but I hope next model in a year would be a lot better.

    Cheers,

    Marin
