Hello,
I am trying to understand the difference between a CCFL and LED backlight screen on the T500 series. Currently CCFL is only being offered but the specs indicate LED should be available as an option. So what is the difference? Benefits?
Thanks.

LED is Brighter, thinner and uses less power than CCFL
-
Hmmm yeah that's weird, w500 also says ccfl.
Where are the LED's?
That's a major reason I'm looking at thinkpads. -
Any more information on this issue?

the t500 has led screens now, but only 1280x800 resolution...
i ordered my t500 with the led so i'll review it when i get my comp (which shld be coming soonish) -
prepare to be un-amazed.

LED backlights have better viewing angles, can display a larger color gamut, and are much more power efficient. CCFL are as bright as LED contrary to what people say but it takes them 10-15minutes to reach the LED brightness. Also, CCFL brightness decrease after time(you will notice a decrease in 1-2 years..depending on usage).

I heard there's a discussion ongoing on whether LED's a unhealthy effect on the eyes, mainly due to the larger portion of blue light in most LED backlights. Not sure what the status on that is..

LEDs hurt my eyes, so I got a regular panel and am pleased with it.

I haven't found any article addressing such issue.

i am...but with that being said...i wonder if i can change the screen with a mbp screen 0.o
anyone knows if the connectors are the same

I highly doubt it. If you want a MBP screen in a T500 you should brush up on your soldering skills as you will probably need to fabricate a few parts yourself (and void a few warranties in the process).

What happened to the LED backlit WXGA+ ??? Thats what I have on my R400 and it's great. Will they have them again???
