T500 Ship Date?

Hey All, I see a bunch of threads about the T400, but I'm sure there are a lot of others who are in the same boat as me that have idea how to peg their T500 order experience.

I'm starting this thread to aggregate some of the scattered posts in different threads here.

My order:

T500
6-Cell
Order Date: 08/24/08
Estimated : 09/08/09
Shipping : 2 Day Express
Arrival Date: N/A

Also, a few things to note:
Credit Card Services is Useless. They never Answer.
Sales Reps are the Most Helpful.
Technical Support is completely separate from Lenovo. Looks like IBM is still doing the tech support.
Warehouse takes 2-4 days. Invoicing and billing takes 6-8 Days. How backward.


I'd love to hear other people's thoughts sand experiences.

...what makes me angry is that, I travel a lot for work and I -saw- someone with a T500 in DFW airport today. Grr!

 

Canadian orders don't get estimated ship dates. I called several times and the date jumps all over the place and one honest rep told me there simply isn't one.

 

So I called Lenovo for a human ship date estimate and they said it would ship "for sure the week of the 17th of September" ***. The website STILL says 09/08/08. I wonder if they're trying to roll ALL the T400's out first. Which would be terrible.

 

T500 ordered on Aug 22

Immediately received e-mail with estimated ship date of Sept 5

Called Lenovo to confirm this date and got answers that ranged from "the week of September to 5" to "more accurate date is Sept 12".

Received e-mail confirming that it shipped on Aug 27 and UPS tracking said I should receive it on Sept 2.

Was shipped UPS 2 day but neither Lenovo nor UPS could really explain what that meant if it is Hong Kong to US.

Would have come Aug 29 but UPS made a mistake on the sort and it was out for delivery to the wrong city. Convinced UPS that they should deliver on Aug 30 (Saturday) since the mistake was theirs. And they did.

Great system.

 

What battery configuration did you order for your T500?

Wow, this thread is surprising to me. Here's how my recent order for a T500 went:

Ordered: 8/30 with 2 day shipping
Estimated ship date: 9/15
Ship Date: 9/2
Expected Delivery Date: Doesn't say, but its in Alaska right now, so I guess tomorrow.


So I ordered it on Saturday, and I'm going to get it by Friday, less than a week. I'm impressed with this, this is the fastest I've ever recieved a laptop from any company.

I think I'm going to cancel my order and get a dell precision m4400 if it doesn't ship by tomorrow.

 

What are the exact specs? Maybe we can identify differences that have caused the delays and people who order next will know what to pick and if it's worth waiting for it...

Ordered it last Saturday, 8/30, expecting it tomorrow, Friday 9/5. 6 days from ordering on a Saturday to having it on my doorstep (barring any UPS screw up). I don't know, maybe it is the processor...or maybe the battery?

Here's my situation (pretty frustrating):

Original Estimated Ship: 8/26/08
Current Estimated Ship Date: 9/9/08

I have called them multiple times. Initial support is very frustrating. Escalation to sales seems to be a little better, but not sure any actual improvement happens anyway.

I'm almost convinced it's the processor. That's the ONLY real commonality.

Also, mine just shipped today. Expecting it tomorrow. Mark_Lenovo on the lenovo forums was a HUGE help.

 

still nothing for me, I'm seriously considering canceling the order

 

I think "Lenovo Recommends" options would give a better bet, since it's reasonable to see they should have better stock on whatever they recommends.

 

Confirmed it's a supply chain shortage of T9500.

Anybody heard anything? It seems that a round of people all had tomorrow as a ship date (myself included). Anyone called yet. I will as soon as I get a chance.

 

I just got mine today! UPS nearly lost it when a truck bay door opened on the freeway...
