Does anyone know when the Lenovo T500 will be customizable with a quad core CPU?

If/when Lenovo decides to offer a Quad Core processor in a 15.4" notebook, the W500 would be the likely candidate instead of the T500.

The 17" W700 offers the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 and the 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9300 as options. The X9100 is an $875.00 upgrade from the standard T9400 and the QX9300 upgrade is $1,275.00.

I doubt that will ever happen, seeing as the T-series is more targeted towards mobility, without sacraficing performance, rather than extreme performance. If it does happen, it will happen in the W-series, and even then, I'm pretty sure Lenovo would restrict it to the W700 line.

    X9100 has only two cores.

Even if you need four cores the price is insane (btw, upgrade at Dell is "just" 760$ w/o taxes :D).

I dunno if Lenovo would because of the battery life lost and perhaps the 90watt power supplies may not be enough. HOWEVER the HP Elitebook 8530 w (that's theworkstation versions) does have the offer to customize with the QX9300* (2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 12 MB L2 cache). Problem is you have to start from a config tier (though already pimped out) just a shade under $3000. It ain't cheap but there it is. I suspect Lenovo isn't going to match HP for a quad core crammed into a 15.4 inch laptop, but I agree if they did it would be in the W500.

I agree, the Dell Precision M4400 has around 130 watt power brick. I still think that it's entirely possible for Lenovo to put a quad core in the T500.
