    Hi all,

I had to full a full XP Pro re-install on my T500 due to a virus that completely locked everything down. Not even the safe modes would work.

I never know which drivers to install and the order they should be in as I always end up with problems afterwards and so want to get it right this time.

Is there a driver "pack" for the T500 that will auto-install them all or do I have to do them all manually? Of course the T500 currently had no internet connectivity so I'll have to transfer them using my USB stick.

I have currently got the Lenovo support page up for the T500 with all the drivers on, I just need some direction on what sequence to do them or whether there's a prog that will do it all for me.

Hope someone can help, I'd be eternally grateful.

    Thanks. :)

PS. I just downloaded the Rescue and Recovery 4.23 ML and tried to install that, but it said that no .net 2 Framework support could be found and terminated the installation. :(

Obtain the Windows XP graphics and wireless drivers for your T500 as the bare minimum and store these on to the USB drive. Download System Update 3.15 for Windows XP and store this on the USB drive as well as Microsoft .NET Framework for XP, this application will help gather all the rest of the missing drivers and utilities for you. Install the drivers, then .NET Framework and lastly System Update in that order.

Thanks a lot! I am downloading all those as I write. Which video driver do I need? There are 2 in the list, an ATI one and a GM35 one, both of which are suitable for XP. I've already downloaded the Intel PRO/1000 ethernet so should be connected to the net on it shortly.

And a +1 rep for your help! :)

Well it's dependant on which GPU is in your T500, if you have the Integrated Graphics model use the Intel graphics, for Dedicated graphics use the ATI one. If in doubt you can either download both as a safeguard and try each one as only one will work in the end or use the System Update application (you may need to go through it in low-res mode) and it should pick up and install the right graphics driver for you.

OK I'm having endless problems with all this. Nothing will install.

I first installed the chipset which went ok. Then I rebooted and tried to install the ATI video driver. That failed because it said it need .net framework. So I tried to install the .net framework (3.5 as per the download link) and that failed because it said it couldn't install without either 1 or 2. So then I tried the WLAN driver and that has failed as well, the windows installer opens then a warning box appears with an exclamation mark and it just says "1: 0 2:" after it.

I also tried the ethernet driver and that fails as well with "the procedure entry point DecodePointer could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll".

    What now? :(

I also tried installing the GM video driver but that won't install without "the latest .net framework" either, which I have, but won't install without either 1 or 2. Aren't these old ones in the XP SP2? Would I be better finding, downloading and installing that first?

OK I've managed to get it working. :)

I downloaded XP SP2 onto my USB and installed that first. That allowed the WLAN driver to install which got me online. Tried to do the Intel video driver but that still wouldn't work without Windows Installer 3.1 so I downloaded that and installed it, then the driver installed okay.

System update also installed okay and just downloading and installing all the updates for it now. :) Just got the soundcard to do now and that should be it hopefully.

Just one question, my boot screen's Windows XP title and logo is all kinda pixelated. Is that normal? I've got my desktop screen resolution set correctly and that looks okay but the boot up logo looks weird.

I downloaded and installed the soundcard as I was getting "can't find audio device for high definition audio bus". That installed okay and I rebooted, but now I'm getting warning messages about "modem device for high definition audio bus" and to insert CD to install the software. Anyone know how to fix this please? :(

Since you have Windows XP SP2 you probably need the Microsoft UAA driver for it to recognise the Modem Device for HD Audio Bus, you can obtain the driver from here. Plus I would advise upgrading the OS to Service Pack 3 for security and stability fixes as well as new features.

Thanks. I got it working by downloading the modem driver from the Lenovo site. No warnings now and all working correctly!
