I ordered a T500 but immediately canceled the order when i notced the screen isnt centered. Not the actual picture but the physical LCD itself is to the right, and the hinges arent the same size. Im very picky about these things. Lol i know.
Is there not a laptop made by lenovo or some other company that makes a laptop that is just black, with good graphics options made to handle 3dsmax9 and certain games on high/decent settings?

If you don't get that the screen is not centered for physical reasons such as non-transparecy of the antnnas Lenovo will profit from you how?

I don't understand how the position of the hinges matters. I owned several notebooks, many had symmetrical hinges but the T500 has far superior hinges than any one of those. It keeps the display very stable - in fact, in the beginning they are quite stiff. I remember a forum thread concerning this (do a search if you are interested).
Other than aesthetics, what is wrong with them? -
Hehe just small things like that bug me
If I get a laptop I want to enjoy/like it in it's entirety.
Thanks for the post lenardg -
Well I never quite liked a notebook as the T500 before. Just FYI
-
Your tempting me haha.
Its either this or the Dell 6500 or whatever. I like the looks of it, but it is...a dell lol. -
I have a Dell Latitude 830 at my workplace. It is also nice but I had some small issues while installing Vista x64 on it - they are all sorted out now, so nothing major. I can't say about the 6500 of course.
Using the Lenovo support website is by far the best I have used with different brands (Dell is close behind). You can easily find what you want and the downloads are fast.
I like the software/drivers that come with the Lenovo better than the Dell, they feel more solid. I guess this is because of how IBM used to run things -
I appreciate all your help.
I will take a closer look at both laptops and come to a decision over this weekend but judging from your input the lenovo is in the lead atm. -
The Dell Precision M4400 and the HP Elitebook 8530p are the alternatives if you want a business-class notebooks with a decent video card. They aren't black though. Of course, you could go over the off-centered screen of the T500 as well.
The Dell Latitude E6500, you mentioned, has a weak video card (it's the same as 9300M GS), not something you want for gaming. -
There's a Dell E6400 also here at my workplace (not mine) ... you would think the ThinkPads are square-ish but that Dell just tops it. It does look very nice though
But genereally I don't think you can really go bad with either notebook (Dell or Lenovo) -
Does the quatro 160 compare to the nividia 8600gs?
THe only game i play is wow, and i use 32dxmax9.
If itll do those 2 things im set. -
Oops sorry "quadro 160m"
I realizes it isnt quatro, ima noob
But yea a comparison between the Quadro 160m and the 8600gs/gt would be fantastic -
The NVS 160M is the 9300M GS, which is a low-end card as I said above, it's fine for light gaming and if you don't plan to play more demanding games in the future. You could compare it to the 8400M GS.
The 8600M GT and the HD 3650 GDDR3 found in the T500 are mid-range cards, about twice more powerful, and could run most of the games at mid/high settings and lower resolution.
OK? -
i was the same way. i ordered it but it doesnt bother me. its a awesome laptop.
-
The Quadro NVS 160m is a low-end graphics card. The Radeon HD 3650 is a mid-range graphics card similar to the GeForce 8600GT or Gerforce 9600GT.
If you are a hardcore gamer, do not get the NVS 160m.
The hinges on current ThinkPads are very solid and robust. The off centered screen does not bother me since Thinkpads come in black. If the bezel was white, it would be slightly more noticeable. -
I was initially bothered by the off-centered screen way back when I was still looking at the T43 and T60, but I don't even think about it anymore. I would be bothered if only my T500 had an off-center screen.
T500 complaint and question.
