i got my t500 about 2 days ago and im loving it, but the fact that it's freezing pisses me off! and i have no idea why! it has happened four times so far, once after i had around 10 tabs running in google chrome and itunes and msn messenger. I tried to open up task manager to see if google chrome was the problem, but the task manager window didnt even pop up! so i tried to shut down through the start menu...NOTHING! i had to do a hard reset! the 2nd time around, my laptop was in sleep and when it awoke from sleep, the battery estimate for time usage was frozen at 2 hours even though i had fully charged it to 100%, and shortly after google chrome froze and i could not shutdown it, and had to do another hard reset. should i call lenovo and see what is wrong? does anyone know what is wrong?

How much Ram do you have? Vista requires quite a bit. The ram is one thing and another thing to check is if your Active Protection System is enabled. That is the software that parks your harddrive if it feels a fall or jolts.

i have 4gb of ddr3 ram (2x2gb) plus the 2 gb intel turbo memory. i have disabled the APS as well upon suggestion, hopefully this is the culprit.

You have plenty of memory. Let us know if APS was the problem. Also it might not be bad to run a utility to check the harddrive for errors.

just looked at the various errors through event viewer i have about 2/3rds worth of 300 errors coming from the Service Control Manager Eventlog provider. is this normal...? i've disabled APS as of last night and so far so good, but if it freezes again, i think it'd better call lenovo.

In theory you should have zero errors in the event viewer.
I get one error everytime I boot up, the Kerberos error that Microsoft says to ignore.

300 errors is way too many. Hopefully disabling APS fixes your freezing. If you are still getting Event Viewer errors after you fix your freezing problem, keep working on reducing the errors.
