i have the att wwan card with a sim inserted. the computer detects the card and thinkvantage gps picks up the port. every time i hit start it never actually locks on it just states "Satellite Acquisition in Progress..."

Mobile broadband connect states that carrier is currently unsupported, could that be the reason why gps isnt working?

Are you sure the card has a GPS device? Maybe the Thinkpad is falsely identifying it. If it is a GPS, do you live in a big city? I'm here in New York, and sometimes my iPhone doesn't even give me lock.
