Just recived my T500 preinstalled with XP. I have no idea why Intel Wifi 5100 drops connection every 5mins with my Linksys WRT54G-TM with DD-WRT ... nevermind because I will be upgrading to Win 7 Pro.
Well of course I played with keyboard a bit and I noticed that there is flex on the left side ... near qwesad keys but mostly at 2,3 or close to that. When I press Esc I can hear some metallic noise ...
I read somewhere that Lenovo went back to older keyboard design but they again switched to the screwed one ...
Its not a that big deal because I will get new keyboard. I already saw few threads and photos, so I would go for one which has as little as possible holes ... or could you recomend some keyboard which is better than that one ...
I never found a photo if Lenovo added that thin support frame like they did on T400 ? I see that it has a bit different screws than my X200 Tablet or X61s so I cant check this really now without proper tools...
My T500 was MFG 2009-12-25 so I think its pretty fresh and should have that damn support thing on the left ?
What do you think about this ? What else should I check to make myself sure that its okay ? I checked out for dead pixels and I have none luckily ...
Cheers

I just recieved my T500 Monday.....less than one week from ordering!!
I have ZERO keyboard flex....that I can tell.
The machine is flawless. -
@Anubis, if you feel that the current keyboard on your laptop is inadequate, you should call up Lenovo and discuss the possibility of sending out a standard T61 replacement keyboard to fix your current problem.

drake437 do you know exact date of mfg of your T500 ? This isnt possible that I have and you dontmaybe we got different keyboards ?
I really would love to know if they added that plate on the left or not ... come on ... I got machine from 12-2009 it has to have that thing ... omfg -
Mine has a little give to it (upper left corner) with very strong pressure after the key is fully bottomed. I imagine that is just the back plate moving...not a problem with normal typing pressure.
I checked some other brands keyboards at Best Buy and some flexed with very little pressure in the middle of the keyboard like it was mounted on a sponge.

also the keyboard on my Ideapad Y530 is very sturdy and rather similar to the T500 in feel and structure, minus the spill-proof feature.

Let me comment on the wireless. This at least used to be a problem. Run system update and see if there is a newer driver. That usually fixed it. Others used Intel's generic driver and it fixed the problems. You could also go into Device Manager and disable or fine tune some of the power saving features. I'd suggest toning down the frequency of how often the wireless card roams to a new network
When I used XP, first I messed with the power saving features. Then Lenovo released a new driver that solved the problem for good -
Mine was built 1-30-10. After looking at mine again, it has a lot of flex near the left upper corner by the speaker grill. Way more than the right side. The whole top part of the case has more give to it than my y530. But for the "sum of the parts" I am happy with it. I don't see any reason why Lenovo would go back to the "old" style keyboards. -
I suggest you to remove the keyboard and see if you have that bracket which is only on the middle damn !
The keyboard we both have is that sh*t one ... it has holes more than cheese
Looking for replacement on ebay ...
By they way take a look here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=385913 -
Well after a more in depth comparison, there is more flex in the t500 keyboard than the Ideapad y530....much more.
T500 keyboard flex again ...
