    Hi folks,
The power cord has broken wires right about where the strain relief is on the end that plugs into the back of my T500. Does anyone have any idea where I could get a replacement plug to repair this? I don't think there is enough wire left for me to make a connection.

    I'm out of warranty.

Barring the ability to repair this, I'm also interested in recommendations for aftermarket chargers that would fill the bill. I don't have discrete graphics so a 65W adapter is adequate.

    thanks,
    hank

I don't recommend repairing a power cord. Buy an OEM one on Ebay, NOT an OEM compatible one.

i think it is wiser for you to purchase a replacement cord, it is a wiser investment in the long run.

The only OE AC adapters I found on Ebay were from China. Of course that's where my T500 shipped from...

For $48 I can buy one direct from Lenovo. I'm wondering what the ins and outs of doing that are vs. buying something off eBay from china.

thanks all for the quick replies.

I bought a Lenovo adapter from China. It seemed fine to me if you don't mind the wait. I'm guessing you can get one for $20-25.

Buying from China is okay, since that is where all the adapters are made. You can also find one on outlet.lenovo.com (if you are in USA).

Okay I think you are getting confused here.

Do you need the brick part or the power cord? Power cords are like...5 bucks.

    This is the brick.

    This is a power cord.

Yup. Time to pull the trigger on one.

Unfortunately none on the outlet today. :(

I suppose the confusion is the terminology I used.

It's what you are calling the brick. I called it the power cord because the failure is right where it plugs into the T500. The brick itself is fine.

    thanks again,
    hank
