I am looking into configuring a T500 but I'm not sure about wireless options:

    Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters
    ThinkPad b/g/n Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe
Intel WiFi Link 5100 [add $20.00]
Intel WiFi Link 5300 [add $40.00]

What are the main differences between the adapters?

The Thinkpad B/G/N card is a Realtek wireless card, unless I am mistaken.

The Intel WiFi Link 5100 and Intel WiFi Link 5300 are made, obviously, by Intel. They are supposed to use less power than the Realtek card, and may provide better reception.

The difference between the 5100 and 5300 is that the 5300 has an additional antenna for quicker speeds on certain Wireless-N networks and better range/signal reception.

I believe the Intel cards have better driver support in Linux, if that concerns you.

No one has proven these statements, however.

Thanks. Would there any differences with an old G router?
