No one done what? Went to the Lenovo website, checked the support page for the t500 and saw all the 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 are available? It took me all of 43 seconds--less time that it took for you to post two posts.

Near as I can tell, they are all there.

I might be a bit hesitant on the ebay windows 7 for $16, though....

Agreed, I am too which is why I asked you guys. :) But unless his accounts been hijacked, he has 100% positive feedback.

And even though they have a bunch of drivers for Win7, it doesn't mean there aren't items missing drivers for win7. Its kinda like Science can't disprove the non-existence of something. But Im not trying to bring my atheist dogma to this forum. lol. Thanks for checking Gerry..

I WOULD still like to know if someone has done this and there were any less-than-obvious problems that arise during.

No, it's not like asking science to disprove the non-existence of something. It's called deductive reasoning.

    Audio, check
    Card reader, check
    modem, check
    intel matrix, check
    solid state drive, check
    ultranav, check
intel pro/100 not listed, but its in windows 7
    wireless, check
    webcam, check
    chipset, check

    It's all there.

fine - what about the softkeys, like brightness via Fn, or volume via Fn? :p Or 5350... WiMax driver? What about the ATI driver?

Again.. anyone done this with a unit with discrete graphics, 5350, or have commentary on the Fn keys?

    Thanks.

Fn keys are hardware driven, no drivers. The wireless card drive is right there on the site, the ATI drivers are built into Windows and also available on the ATI website.

Dude, they SELL THIS LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS 7 Professional 64-bit. Do you really think there are no drivers available for it.

I can tell you are just not going to be satisfied until someone drives over to your house with a t500 loaded with Windows 7.

Maybe a macbook is more your style.....

    Relax, guys

As far as I know, all the T500 drivers in Windows 7 64-bit work perfectly fine except for the switchable graphics driver - there is a bug that when the machine is put to sleep in integrated graphics mode, on wake-up, both graphics chipsets are on (causing excessive power usage). To fix it, switch to discrete graphics mode and back.

This issue, however, is present in all versions of Windows 7, not just 64-bit. Hopefully, Lenovo will fix it soon.

Thanks MidnightSun.. reatly appreciated. Curious, what if the integrated graphics are fully disabled in the BIOS (as they have to be to not have your RAM eaten up..? Does that negate the issue?

And hey Gerry.. no need to get all smarmy. Im not trying to impress anyway, I had a question that ONLY someone who's experienced it would know. You seem like you might be knowledgeable, but believe it or not, you can't be an expert on a specific topic unless you are EXPERienced it it. Thats why the words are so similar. After you've administrated SGI Octanes, HP-UX machines, Sun Microsystems, and run an IT business like I did for over 10 years.. you'd know its much more convenient to just ASK someone who's done it exactly about the problems that are difficult to answer without actually doing. I could pose scenarios that'd demonstrate my point, but this last paragraph is all I have for you. For those who are here and mean NOT to use this as the measure of your societal worth, but rather to help others.. thanks. If your here (gerry) to compliment yourself and validate your ego, well, sorry to hear you can't derive that validation elsewhere. Honestly.

Yes, if you use only discrete graphics (and likewise install ATI's regular discrete-graphics-only driver), there will be no issue. Obviously, you do lose on-the-fly switchable graphics, though.

It might have been to your advantage to post this thread in the Lenovo subforum where you can get model-specific responses, though. You can search the Lenovo subforum and find others' experiences with Win7.

That was to be my next suggestion.

I am not here to validate my ego or compliment myself. When I have a little extra time, I try to help out. Since no one else was offering to help, I tossed in my two cents, and even went so far as to go to the Lenovo website and look for you since it didn't seem you wanted to do that.

If I was a bit short, it was because you seemed reluctant to do that yourself, and you seemed a bit dismissive of my efforts.

I was not smarmy. I was incredulous. And even now after you've insulted my character, I wish you well. I am sorry I was not able to provide the level of help you desired.

Good advice. :) Thanks again Midnight.. Curious - do you have the same problem with yours that I do? Where, when you initiate a video there is 'glitchiness' at first, which if you rewind once its opened, it runs smoothly from thereafter? And yes, I will post in the sub-forum from now on. I actually didn't see it until after I'd posted it here and thought perhaps a mod would just move it --seeing as I can't move it myself. :)

Dammit! How am I supposed to get in to a battle with a nice guy, eh? Thanks for the VERY mature response Gerry, and I too regret taking your comment as inflammatory or condescending. Please accept my apology.
