    Hi
I currently have the ThinkPad 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter III, which I believe has only 2 antenna and 2 wires, and it supports only b and g.
Recently i upgraded my home router to wireless, so I am thinking if can I can buy an Intel 5300 Wifi Card, and replace it myself.
I have read that the 5300 has 3 antenna so requires 3 wires, I dont know if that will work on my current setup?
    has anyone done something similar?

The third antenna should be in place already, even if your current WiFi card only has 2, so you should be able to hook up a 5300 ABGN with no problems.

Do note, however, that Lenovo whitelists its WiFi cards, so you will need to buy a Lenovo-whitelisted card for it to even be recognized by your Thinkpad. These whitelisted cards can be found readily on eBay.
