    Hi,

Yes well while this sounds just about as stupid as when Beos in the old days had an option to turn of the cpu (!), it makes sense because at very rare times - when running on battery and hardly doing anything, the faint (but noticable) sound from the computer completely stops. When I hit a key, it sounds like the harddrive is spinning up.

So I THINK it is the harddrive im hearing - and not the fan. But I would like to know! Are there any utilities around that can turn off the harddrive - on command - as if the powersave kicked in?

Where is that? I cant find that option anywhere. Screen and such but not just "harddisk"?
EDIT: Got it! - under advanced settings...

Thanks - that did the trick.
