Which would you recommend? I'm a 90% desk / 10% mobile user. I have a T400 but I want to upgrade to a bigger screen.

what sort of apps do you need to run on your laptop, also do you play game?
-
wait for the T520 or W520... a month max leftto order.
T= cheaper, perfect for office
W= great gpu, usb 3.0
both are very identical. -
IMO, the only main real life(REAL LIFE) difference between T510 and W510 is the price, weight, size of the power adapter, and the battery life.
If you are going to use it 90% at a desk, three of the four differences do not factor into your buying decision. Therefore, I'd say go with the W510. With the deals and all, the price difference between T510 and W510 will not be that much anyway. If you want to carry the W510 around, the power adapter brick is HUGE! The laptop itself easily fits into my bag, but fitting that power supply can be a pain. But considering what you have said, you will have no trouble.
Extra Ram slots, better processor, USB 3.0 all give the W510 the leading edge. The weight and battery may be a little downturn for the W510, but since you will be using it at a desk most of the time, they both hardly matter. The dimensions are the same as well. My W510 goes for around 4 hours with wireless on, screen about 75% brightness.
I'd say go with the W510. But whether you choose T510 or W510, you HAVE to get the FHD screen.. I mean.. it's gorgeous, absolutely stunning. After using my T60 for 3+ years, the screen is simply amazing. I now look at my T60 and think..."How did I use that for that long...?"
And a little off topic, but consider using an Ultrabay HDD to use your original primary drive as a secondary drive and buying an SSD to use as your primary drive. This was simply(I mean, really) the best upgrade I have ever done on a computer. I doubted when anybody told me to upgrade to SSD instead of upgrading CPU or RAM, but after doing it myself, I could really tell the difference.
I recommend W510, but you cannot go wrong with either one(unless you are hardcore user) -
Browsing, Quickbooks, E-mail, Word Processing, no games.
I would like to wait for the T520 or W520 but I need the computer in the next 3 weeks -
cant find my sources, but i have read that shipping-date is 17. march, but 100% at the end of march you can buy one T520 or W520!

Hmmm...shipping date the 17th? You mean we can buy it around the 17th?

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
I would agree with redevils89 that the W510 being the better choice if it is going to be almost always sitting on your desk. Of the two it is much more solidly in the desktop replacement category (which seems to be what you are describing needs-wise).
Only justification for going with the the T5xx series that I can see off the top of my head would be if you anticipate being more mobile. The W510 is more inconvenient to lug around and battery life would be much shorter. -
I think I'm gooing to wait for the T520 or W520. In terms of display, FHD is the way to go?

For everything you're doing, the W510 is overkill. -
Worth noting that both the T510 and W510 are heavily discounted this weekend, but the W510 gets a 20% discount compared to 15% for the T510. As a result, a similarly configured W510 may actually be less expensive than a T510, especially if you go for the bells and whistles that are included in the W510 versus paying a bit extra on the T510.
Just finished configuring a W510 with a i7-820qm processor, 8 gigs of memory, color sensor, 95% FHD screen, 6300 intel wifi, 500gb disk for $1567 USD. For a i7-720qm processor and 4 gigs of memory, the price is $1279.
