    hi there,

im a big fan for IBM ThinkPads series since 90's, but i am getting hesitated in buying a ThinkPad yet. My interests for my next ThinkPad must have:

    1. to be more sturdy superb machine.
    2. more usb ports, but (It must have the new generation USB 3.0 port.)
    3. powerful performance.
    4. Full HD resolution with a superior screen.
    5. It must have a Discrate Graphics; which it is the best resolution for gamers

I wish my new ThinkPad does have these features.

Kindly, which ThinkPad series would meet with my needs as i state it above?

    thanks guys

only W510 have the usb 3.0 port.

Powerful performance may also mean powerful heat output.

FHD LCD is only available in W510, while for a while T510 also had it.

I think from your description you are better off with a Alienware laptops, since Thinkpads graphics card for the Workstation is designed for CAD and not for games.

Or alternatively, get a DIY Vidock with some med spec graphics card.

    thanks for info..

However, since ThinkPad T510 comes with a discrate NVIDIA NVS 3100m graphics with 512MB DDR3 memory card! is it possible to run games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, World of Warcraft, and those modern games at the full high resolution on T510 properly hands down?

    I really do appreciate it

The T510's GPU is far weaker than the W510's. In fact, the T510's GPU is a tad bit weaker than the T500's Radeon 3650. And if "full resolution" is 1920x1080, that won't work so well.

Again, only the W510 has USB 3.0 ports, because it's the only one with a separate USB 3.0 controller. Based on the criteria you listed, and judging on the fact that you seem interested in gaming, I'd suggest going with the dual-core W510 with the Quadro FX 880M.

US$280 GTX460 DIY ViDock will run those games fine. See some results on a x201+GTX460 here. Ensure you get the Intel HD graphics version to get the significant Optimus performance enhancements.
