Reinstalled on a new T520, installed all Lenovo and Windows updates, and then ran Windows Experience Index. I'm almost certain the Graphics number is a lot lower than when I ran it yesterday on the same machine. The difference before is I had a slower hard drive (and a correspondingly lower disk #), and I hadn't yet installed any updates.
What's a typical Graphics score for other T520 owners? Here's my full WEI:
Processor: 7.1
Memory: 7.5
Graphics: 4.6
Gaming Graphics: 6.5
Primary hard disk: 7.9
thx

You don't mention which GPU but the Intel HD3000 should score in line with my table here.
Do a full re-run of WEI. I found when trying the various RAM options for the above table that I need to re-run WEI at least twice to get a sensible score. it's as if the first time around it figures out what memory is on board and then only at the 2nd or 3rd attempt it uses it properly for testing the GPU.

repeated runs don't change the score, unfortunately. i'm going to try popping in the original hard drive and see if the gfx score goes up. maybe it's a driver or update i installed.
i've got the i5-2520M, so I believe that's the HD3000 gfx. 8GB of RAM (stock 4GB and a 4GB stick of Crucial PC3-10600. -
reinstalled to a new SSD. as far as I can tell, the setup is now the same as my stock hard drive. WEI graphics with the SSD is now 5.9, still slower than the 6.5 I have with the hard drive, but much faster than the 4.5 I ended up with after updates.
any ideas what might be causing the difference? surely it's not the hard drive itself. i looked at all installed programs, graphics drivers, versions, etc. and can't find a diff. I had performance cranked to max in the power manager. -

My test results were also with the i5 2520M.
Try balanced powerformance. It's possible that Max performance gives maximum CPU but throttles the GPU (they share the overall power envelope).

The low score is due to the WEI app using the Intel GPU, in the past I managed to force it to run with my NVS4200 and got 7-something, but it came back down a couple days later.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
WEI scores should be taken with a grain of salt. A benchmark is a process/test that generates a quantifiable result and be repeated multiple times for consistency. WEI fails at the last part, you can run it 3 times and it will spit out 3 different numbers. Point in case, WEI is rubbish.
