I just ordered a T520, I originally thought it came with the 3g module, but the specs say Upgradable, so I have to assume it does not. I ordered it from an online retailer... any way to the point, which 3g module will work for rogers in Canada and for this laptop? or do I need to order the Ericsson unit from Lenovo?

I'd just buy a USB stick for 3G from your carrier, rather than getting an internal card.

Having it as an internal card means it's tied to your laptop and you won't be able to temporarily use it on another laptop.

EDIT: or tether your smartphone if you have one that supports it ;)

I would consider getting a mobile hot-spot like a MiFi 2200, which you can connect to like a wireless access point.

This will leave your WWAN slot open in case you want an mSATA solid state drive. Another advantage is that several people can connect to a MiFi at the same time, in case you'd like to share.

Thanks for the replies, both options are valid, but I've already purchased a 240 GB SSD drive to replace the hard drive. No one else needs to access the internet, only myself. I would prefer not to have to carry anything else with me. I will call Lenovo Monday and find out, from their web site the part number for the laptop says it comes with WWAN option, so maybe it does???

I believe (although I'm not 100% sure) that Lenovo whitelists their WWAN cards in a similar way that they do to their WiFi cards, so you'll have to get a compatible card from them or through eBay or the like if you want to install one after-market.

What I discovered the Ericsson unit is the best, you can order it in any store of course.
